A Game to Remember: 1997 World Series Game 7 Indians @ Marlins
This is probably, almost unquestionably the best sports game I've seen in my lifetime
Baseball is so much more interesting than football, basketball and soccer.
Can someone explain to me why people care about all these insignificant rules in baseball about celebrating when you get a homer… I feel like this is why no one watches baseball anymore because it’s so boring. Like why not charge the mound? Why not clear the dugouts… I mean, there’s a team called the Savannah bananas who do all kinds of crazy bullshit selling out stadiums eeeevery fuuuucking game… quit all this pussy bullshit
01:54 Dude was totally turtled up and that lady went after that bat like a boss. I certainly hope he wasn't trying to take it away from her.
The middle finger in the camera after Kershaw’s 😂😂😭 4:08
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a black squirrel.
I was lucky enough to be at the game in Fenway Park where John Valentin had his unassisted triple play. A guy sitting in the row of stands next to me said it was an unassisted triple play and I had told him that it was a double play and Valentin tagged Mitchell to make sure he got the third out of the inning. It happened so quickly that even though I saw Valentin get the unassisted triple play it never occurred to me that he did. It's ironic, too--at least to me it is-- that when a fielder makes a great play in the field he is, more often than naught, the first batter up the next inning. Valentin was the first, and as far as I know, the only one, to hit a home run leading off his team's next at-bats. A friend of mine couldn't use the tickets she had gotten for this game and asked me if I wanted them. Am I ever glad I was able to! She was a bit disappointed when she learned it could've been her to see the rares play in baseball. On a side note, I also saw Roger Clemens set the major league Baseball record for most strikeouts in a game when he did it against the Seattle Mariners on April 29, 1986.I was going to Emerson College at the time which was just a short walk to Fenway and tried getting someone to go with me everyone I asked couldn't go so I went myself. One guy I asked told me had a date with his girlfriend and that was why he couldn't go with me. When I came back from the game I met up with his girlfriend's roommate and started chatting with her in their dorm room. Shortly afterward he and his girlfriend came to the room He asked me about the game. I told him that the Red Sox had the lead then lost it when Gorman Thomas hit a home run to give the Mariners a lead only to have Dwight Evans hit a two-run home run to win the game for the Red Sox. Oh, and Roger Clemens struck out 20 to set a new Major League Baseball record. The guy asked me to repeat what I just told him about Roger Clemens striking out 20 again to make sure he heard me right. After I did, he turned to his girlfriend and told her, "I could've saw history made but instead I went out with you." The girlfriend replied, "Thanks a lot!" It was priceless!
You gotta be a special kind of soft as a catcher bitching at a pitcher for taking a look at his HR. Blame your own pitcher or yourself for missing the spot
Nice collection, but incomplete without Rick Camp's one and only career homer on an 0-2 pitch to tie the game [again] with two outs in the bottom of the 18th inning, Braves vs Mets, on July 4, 1985. Rick [RIP} was a lifetime .060 hitter.
4:54 check the bat toss,
I wish there was no DH. I want pitchers to bat.
7:05 now I know what team Bobby Witt Jr’s dad played for 💀
I watch this video every couple of months. They're all great moments but still never get enough of seeing the Cubs win the world series. I was watching live, and I about had a heart attack in the last inning and screamed when they won.
So the lesson here is the Mets don’t win baseball games, the other team just fucks up
I'm sad that paul skenes will never hit a home run (unless rules change)
*couldn't care less
This will never happen again 😢
😊🥰♥️👍
That black squirrel really had that guy flummoxed, I mean he 🙄😒REALLY he just couldn't believe it🤣😂
When I watch a "first at bat home run compilation" video and I see freaking Waino. Lol
Berkman was the true hero of this game... 1st inning homer kept St. Louis in the whole game, 10th inning game tying single on a 2-2 count... masterclass
Felix Hernandez grand slam? No?
Doug Davis giving up a bomb to Johnson as a Brewer, and giving up a bomb to Gallardo (a Brewer)
so unfortunate that this is never gonna happen again
i love when the anouncers talk about the animls. its a nice way to say where more then baseball evern thoght we might be sepearated that way we are still strong as a country
Babe Ruth looking up from Hell wondering what the big deal is
The no peek unwritten rule is just crazy. Wonder if the catcher felt the breeze off Jose’s next pitch to him
Does anyone see the middle finger after Kershaws homer?
When a Plpitcher hits his 100th homerun: 10 seconds of video with Ohtani.
MLB should remove the DH rule. We want to em pitchers play ball!
This video has become a relic from a bygone era. I hope it's preserved for posterity.
I remember bartolo tattoo in that one
I don’t know if this is a hot take, but Joe Buck was spectacular in this game. Not just the call at the end. He brought a quiet excitement to every call, if that makes sense.
I swear most of these are against the Red Sox or Braves.
Mannnn it's one thing to get ahead and score a run and come back and win a game but when you're in game 6 of the world series facing elimination after facing elimination games during the regular season, and you do it twice in this fashion?? God Is watching and your baseball team is God's team and he is pulling the strings. I remember 2011 like it was yesterday and I remember like the last month of the season was just do or die every single game we had to win we had to somehow pull it out. Especially during the last week we had to win. Everything had to go our way. We got in the playoffs by the skin of our teeth.
Down to their last strike man
The coolest part about the Bartolo HR to me is that they were the away team and the crowd still cheered for him.
We will always have a David Freese Jersey in our home!
Fun Fact: Daniel Norris was the first, and likely the last, AL pitcher to hit a home run at Wrigley field.
That is awesome
Greg was the worst thing they could have done
We've got a visitor on the field. He's just looking for some pee nus what?! 😂😂😂😂😂 I know he said peanuts it's funny the way he said it
Literally every other team😮🎉❤ The Giants: 😒
I wanna know WHO GOT THE BALL
People who taped this video just to see Bartolo 👇
Remarkable how many iconic baseball moments (heroic and tragic) had Vin on the call.
See that bird hit the camera at 4:07 ?
@4:08
Rip Jose Fernandez, could’ve been the greatest of all time
2:42 rare footage of Joe Buck getting excited. This and the Minneapolis Miracle are his best calls.
Still get goosebumps watching this! Go CARDS!
